A B O U T
Alex has been working behind the camera as a Camera Operator, Director of Photography, Gaffa, Grip, Camera Assist and Sound Recordist for more than 25 years with a great passion for his work including Feature Films, Short Films, TV Series, Music Video Clips, Documentary’s, Television Commercials, Corporate Training Films and News/Current Affairs. He is a full and committee member of the Australian Cinematography Society from which he has won two awards for cinematography.
He has also had extensive experience shooting aerial footage from many types of helicopter and fixed wing aircraft. Has spent a lot of time working with a variety of dangerous animals including Saltwater Crocodiles and many deadly snakes.
Alex began his career in television in the late 80’s working in outside broadcast.
He then progressed into news and production with a strong technical background such as extensive experience cabling for data, video and audio, cable terminations. Satellite Dish installation, maintenance, repairs and fault finding of all equipment.
He is also a licensed Electrical Safety Tester.
He has experience with a variety of cameras including Red Epic, Arri Alexa, Sony PDW-700/800, Digital Betacam, DSLR and many Panasonic broadcast cameras just to name a few, also support systems Steadicam, mini jibs, dollys and rigging GoPro/Mini cameras in a variety of situations such as music concerts, race cars and motorbikes.
